I hope this message finds you well, basking in the summer sunshine and cherishing the recent Independence Day weekend.

Personally, I had a delightful time filled with baseball, laughter, and the celebration of my 54th birthday. It was truly a memorable weekend! I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who reached out to me after the passing of my father earlier this year. Your prayers, encouraging emails, and thoughtful cards touched my heart deeply. The outpouring of love from my patients was truly humbling, and I am grateful for your support during such a challenging time. This month, I would like to share a glimpse into my personal journey as an immigrant. When I first arrived in Dallas, Texas in 1978, I encountered racism for the first time. Asian hate existed even then, and I found myself getting into numerous fights as I grew up. I often yearned to return to Korea, struggling to understand why we had left behind our comfortable lifestyle to navigate a new country and transition into Section 8 apartments, with few familiar faces around us. We were essentially alone, forced into survival mode, and those were undoubtedly dark times.

While my childhood memories may appear traumatic, I firmly believe that difficult times foster resilience and strength of character. My parents not only trained me to become a black belt in Tae Kwon Do so that I could defend myself, but they also instilled in me a vision of becoming a doctor who would serve and earn the respect of those around me. So, I embarked on the journey of learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and understanding that through dedicated study and hard work, one’s vision can indeed manifest into reality. It became my mission.

One of my last conversations with my father revolved around my endeavor to establish an online company that would help countless patients maintain their youth, well-being, and appearance. I could sense his immense pride as his eyes lit up and a smile on his face. When he passed away, working on this project became my solace, and I have recently put the finishing touches on it.
