Autism and HBOT

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in recent years has increased dramatically for many different reasons that can be attributed as a potential risk factor. Due to the increase, more parents and providers alike have turned to alternative forms of treatments to counteract the underlying symptoms of autism. Current medical therapies which include counseling, medications, and other procedures have failed at producing positive outcome for many patients with autism and their families. However, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has demonstrated in many studies as an emerging treatment that parents and physicians are utilizing to help reduce the effects of ASD by increasing oxygen perfusion to the brain. The higher level of oxygen to the brain has been shown to decrease inflammation and improve cognitive functions.
